Technically not the best and was really a very good centre back but he has always turned up, has never complained and always seemed to be a good team mate in good times and bad. He may be a loss in the dressing room.
I hope we do actually get a 'presence' in midfield who has size, can head, defend and and pass the ball. It probably won't be this season though.
No bad feelings from me. It was probably a good time and he'll get a decent contract from the move.

I remember when he first joined and I thought he was a beast of a player compared to what we had. Loved his first and second seasons. Obviously got stale and eventually became a mobile bollard.
I wish him well and hope he returns to the player I really liked for a couple of seasons, other than when he plays again us of course.
Hopefully it frees up some funds for his replacement or a part-payment for a forward.

Chim, I also thought he was a bit of a beast when he first came. Part of that might have been just how poor we were then but also the tactics we used which probably made him look better.
In a team which is more geared to fast attacking and technical football he is never going to shine.
He's always chipped in with goals for us and I'm sure he will at Palace. If he had been happy to play defence then I'm sure he would have been solid and be held in greater esteem.
